Suffolk Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre (also trading as Suffolk Oxygen Therapy Centre) is an independent charity helping those living with Multiple Sclerosis, as well as people suffering with a number of other conditions. The centre has been operating for over 30 years and was one of the first of its kind specifically designed to offer Oxygen Therapy to people with Multiple Sclerosis.
Located in Great Blakenham just outside Ipswich, in Suffolk, the charity is a member of the Federation of MS National Therapy Centres. The centre is staffed by a team of part-time employees, supported by volunteers.
The charity, which prides itself on its friendly and relaxed environment, is funded entirely from donations and fund-raising activities.
The Centre Manager is a new role.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the centre, which includes:
Liaising directly with – and reporting regularly to – the Board of Trustees and attending Board meetings.
Direct line management of the staff team including recruitment and provision of appropriate training.
Managing the security and maintenance of the building.
Attending meetings of the national and regional MS Centre’s as required.
The implementation of new therapies and overseeing a strategic plan to fund/develop new premises.
OUR IDEAL PERSON
We are seeking someone who can offer the following experience and attributes:
Management experience with a background in a customer- focused environments.
Exceptional communications skills.
A warm and empathetic manner.
Computer literate and comfortable with social media.
An understanding of the charity sector and proven fundraising skills would be considered a major advantage.
This is a wide-ranging and challenging role that will see the manager deal with people suffering with life-changing conditions on a daily basis. The manager will be responsible for the introduction of a series of new therapies and carrying the charity forward without ever losing sight of the core values of care and support that our members expect and deserve.
Salary: Approx. £28,000 (pro-rata) depending on experience Hours: 26-30 hours per week

Board & Governance
Responsible for the overall day-to-day management of the Centre.
Organise and attend bi-monthly Board meetings and AGM and present reports to the Board of Trustees
Ensuring that all policies and staff training are up to date
Line management – Staff appraisals, discipline
Ensuring that all staff including therapists and volunteers have DBS clearance
Manage the security and maintenance of the building
Ensure all complaints are handled in a professional and courteous manner in accordance with the formal procedure for complaints
Attend meetings of the national and regional MS Centre’s as required.
Take leadership role in future development of premises
To work closely with the Treasurer for the financial management of the Centre including:
Financial records and providing updates for the Board, Payroll and Pension (NEST) systems.
Ensure that full inventories are maintained of all equipment and stock. Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and records kept
To ensure that the atmosphere of support and caring for which the centre is renowned is maintained.
Provide recommendations to the Board regarding potential new therapies.
