In the eighties, our trustee and former Chairperson Peter Sims, who has MS, heard about hyperbaric oxygen being used as a therapy for MS so decided to try it.  He felt the benefits immediately so he and a small band of helpers set about raising funds to buy our first decompression chamber.  In July 1983, after a huge amount of hard work, the Centre opened its doors to members – an incredible achievement. We now have three chambers and 200 members, making us the oldest and biggest Oxygen Centre in the country.

The Centre has helped thousands of people over the years with a range of conditions from MS to broken bones.

In 2023, we will be organising events to celebrate our anniversary and the pioneering work of the first trustees.

Compared to what life was like before therapy I'm doing very nicely and shall continue to have oxygen therapy at the centre for as long as possible.
